Releasing Your Productivity - How to Move Forward When You're Overwhelmed

Many of us are not only solopreneurs with growing or newly established home-based businesses, but also parents, spouses, PTA presidents, and Little League coaches as well. It's easy to become overwhelmed when you're devoting so much time and energy to your business, and as a result, to become "stuck" and unable to make those decisions effectively which are crucial to your business's growth.

Linda Feinholz's article on www.homeofficeweekly.com offers 3 steps to become "unstuck" in your home business. In brief, they are:

1) List everything that's incomplete - make a list of all tasks and projects that are incomplete. This includes saved voice mail messages with unreturned phone calls, things jotted down on post-it notes, bulletin boards, etc. You must list every single item that is incomplete.

2) Sort and tag each item - attach a reason for it not having been completed. Example reasons are:

1 - I don't have the information I need to make a decision
2 - I have the information but I don't like the form the decision will take
3 - I have the information and I like the form, but not the timing
4 - This conflicts with another item on the list

3) Prioritize within each group, and attach new tags - tags may read "delegate" or "easy to complete." Once you've prioritized and tagged within each category, you can start making decisions. You will feel much more in control of your business once you have taken control of your tasks. Read more here.
